How to play Sudoku
- Fill every empty square with a number from 1 to 9. Each row, column and 3 × 3 box must contain every number exactly once.
- Select an empty square, then choose a number from the keypad. Use Notes to keep track of candidates, Undo to reverse a move, or Hint when you need help.
- Three mistakes end the attempt. Your unfinished puzzle saves in this browser so you can continue later.
A useful first move
Start with a row, column or box that already has many numbers. Check which digits are missing and eliminate those that appear in crossing rows and columns.
Difficulty and saved games
Easy, medium and hard offer different starting grids. These tiers are based on clue counts; they are not a formal rating of solving techniques.
Progress stays on this browser and device. Clearing browser data can remove your saves.
